TWITTER ETIQUETTE

In response to a class room assignment I posted a link on a wiki involving an article on twitter entitled Twitter etiquette for businesses: How to keep your followers I would like to surmise this article for you now. This article includes a list of 6 suggestions for anyone involved in using a twitter. First of these rules states that one should be careful when using hash tags in that they should make sense for the discussion topic being brought up. Next is to respond to followers since twitter is a networking tool to keep a conversation going. Third heuristic this site makes is to vary it up a bit by talking about other things than you. The forth rule to live by when tweeting is to stick to the 140 character limit of a tweet since incomplete sentences are in essence a waste of space. The 5th rule includes a corny/cute video where the actors involved treat use of exclamation points as though it were an n addiction causing an AA like meeting of bloggers. And the last rule of this site is to not ask for Re-tweets since it is the spontaneity that is what generates a good back and forth.

MY WEB USE

Since I began my study of web2.0 I thought my internet experience was a rewarding one however now that I have been taken on a virtual walk through of the way of the web I see now that I was barley scratching the surface.  The web2.0 applications that were described at length to give meaning to with actual in depth break downs of their creation and effects on society have been so eye opening. Certain sites such as Google reader and delicious most of all have brought my enjoyment level from the internet to an all-time high.  Before this class most of my online time was spent on Facebook and YouTube with some random Stumble upon when my boredom was at its worst. Through my interactions with all of the different applications involved with RSS and Atom feeds I realized how much more interconnected the web is becoming and I was not as annoyed with the excessive list of hyperlink boxes on websites asking for membership.  I realized that if anything the amount of connections per page is too small.  One more point of interest is wolfman alpha it uses computational search to return accurate database backed, detailed and comprehensive results with real time data manipulation on query response.  With programs such as these and a growing connectivity the future doesn’t seem so overwhelming.

SOCIAL NETWORKING ETIQUETTE

For the class wiki I found and posted a reference to a web page I would like to sum up a little about that article for this blog. The page is titled Social networking etiquette 101  and includes a brief list of 7 guide lines for operating a social networking account.  First one is a helpful reminder that anything you post for others to read is now public knowledge and can be used against you later.  There is a suggestion about not unfriendinging someone you know real well in reality since feelings may be harmed as a result.  Another also reminds the reader to not say anything if there is nothing nice for you to say. Then the next few guidelines go into a little less general points that seem to irk the blog writer a little more than they should.  These points are along the lines of multiple lettering when stressing points and multiple punctuations that are not needed. And the final point brought up by the writer of this blog is to not constantly post updates of relationship statues going on and on about how in love and luck you are to have found someone so special since most people will have lost interest for posts of this sort after the first day.

FINDING YOURSELF

Ever look for yourself on Google. I have Edward Hogan turns up 17,900,000 results whereas "Edward Hogan turns up 124,000 results. Google also has extra search results available next to the number of results indicating 6 personal results. These personal results come from what is listed on my Google + Account and turns up my blogs posts. Aside from that there are no results that bring up anything about me or my impact on the web.  The reason for the lack of results would seem obvious, that I don’t share a lot of information on the web, yet in the past month I have joined and created multiple sites and profiles.  It is this reason that leads me to believe that it’s more than just the creation but also the content and key words associated with a search that leaves my presence on the web still very minimal and unlikely to return many results.
